The Cumbria Dark Skies Festival takes place annually in the autumn season with a host of exciting events to celebrate the wonders of the night sky. The 2023 festival took place between 28th October to 18th November, but there are still some dark sky events taking place throughout the winter months, so take a look here for more details.
The winter months are a great time to take advantage of the longer nights, wrap up warm and spend time in the outdoors, getting closer to nature and really appreciating the dark skies above you.
If you are looking for accommodation, then make sure to take a look at our dark sky friendly venues.
Cumbria Dark Skies Festival is a collaboration of partners from the Lake District National Park Partnership including Friends of the Lake District, Cumbria Tourism, Forestry England, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and the Lake District National Park. See the full programme below and make sure to check back here for the updated line up.
Created by Hawkshead Brewery for the Cumbria Dark Skies Festival, Baltycki is a complex, cold fermented Baltic Porter which has smooth, rich, deep sweetness with huge notes of boozy chocolate, figs, dates with subtle peppery and dark fruit flavours. It’s available at Hawkshead Brewery in Staveley on both cask and keg.
