It sounds like a bit of a cliché, but on this occasion the use of a cliché is justified; You can’t pay a visit to Cumbria without taking full advantage of the local produce offered by our plentiful food and drink outlets. You don’t need a sat nav or an internal compass to navigate your way towards your supply of fine Cumbrian foods - all you need to do is follow your nose. Ok, it’s the second cliché in just one paragraph, but again – it’s justified.

From world-famous local delicacies like Grasmere Gingerbread to Cumberland Sausage, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, Hawkshead Relish and Kendal Mint Cake, there’s plenty to sample. Cumbria is also the home of countless restaurants, specialising in the use of locally sourced ingredients which span the entire Lake District national park and stretch along more than 100 miles of coastline.

You can find out more about why so many kitchens in award winning pubs and Michelin starred restaurants are causing such a stir, by grabbing a spoon and browsing the categories below.
