Details
In this workshop you will be able to make a handbag-sized bag using merino wool roving and sections of sari silk for embellishment. This technique is known as Nuno felting. You will be working with a foam form as a resist, either cut to your own shape or you can use one that is provided on the day. You will then learn how to build up several layers of wool around this form to create a bag that is created seamlessly in one piece and needs no stitching. Marian will bring all the wool and a bag of colourful sari silks for you to work with. She will show you how to attach metal magnetic fasteners and various ways of attaching straps (the leather straps can be purchased separately after the course or we can send you details beforehand, there are many colours/styles to choose from online).
A felted wool bag offers a natural quite water resistance that can be used either as a shopping or hand bag. The finished size is around 12 inches square; if preferred your bag could be slightly smaller bag or rectangular.
