“Our last adult holiday before adopting!”

I booked a couple of days away to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday and to celebrate our recent approval as adoptive parents!

On arrival we were given the option of hot soup and were greeted by a lovely hot roaring fire in the lounge (a welcome addition given the bitter cold weather at the time!)! The service was fab and our host even rang up a local restaurant for us to make a reservation. We were surprised to find a cooled bottle of prosecco and a box of forrero rochers in our room when we arrived - these little touches made our final adult holiday before parenthood really special.

Breakfast was absolutely divine - hot pear and apple with cinammon, greek yoghurt and honey and a full cooked breakfast, fresh toast on crusty bread and jam followed by a healthy smoothy. Felt we were truly spoilt!

Would love to come again (if we can persuade someone to babysit)! xx

Distinguished late 18th Century Grade II Listed house in the historic village of Clifton in Cumbria’s Eden Valley on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park with easy access to the Northern Lakes and fells and the North Pennines. Lowther Castle, Ullswater and its lake steamers are all approximately 10 minutes drive away and there are several excellent pubs with good restaurants in Clifton and the surrounding villages. We are only 5 minutes away from Junction 40 on the M6 and from Penrith mainline railway station.

The house is sympathetically decorated in period colours with a contemporary accent. It is comfortably and stylishly furnished and has an informal and relaxed atmosphere. There are many original, paintings, ceramics and other artworks by local artists throughout the house. The property is fully double glazed throughout. The house is set in its own large, walled garden with a a terrace to the rear of the house. At the bottom of the garden is a specially built structure housing an infra-red sauna and treadmill, together with secure bicycle storage.

There are stunning views from the back of the house over the Lowther valley and Eastern and Northern fells.
