The choice of accommodation, places to visit and facilities for those with disabilities visiting the Lake District, Cumbria has never been better. More and more places now have excellent facilities including rooms specially equipped with the latest accessible equipment.

We want the Lake District, Cumbria to be known as a great places for people of all abilities, so with our Access For All page, we have brought together lots of information to help you plan your holiday here and choose the best places to visit.


Many of the properties on Golakes have facilities suitable for those with disability and some have specially adapted rooms making it a lot easier to plan your visit to the area with confidence.

The Calvert Trust

The Lake District Calvert Trust is a residential outdoor centre delivering challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people with disabilities.

Located on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, in the heart of the Lake District National Park, the centre offers accessible accommodation, a very warm welcome and exciting breaks for schools, groups, families and individuals with their friends and carers.

Accessible to people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, including those with the most complex needs.

Easy-access walking routes in Cumbria

Miles without stiles is an initiative by the Lake District National Park, with details of 48 routes across the National Park that are suitable for people with limited mobility, including wheelchair users, families with pushchairs, and the visually impaired.

Containing an interactive map of routes for you to explore and a full list of the routes available choose from.
