    Visit Blackwell to experience the stunning, crisp winter views over Lake Windermere and the snow-topped Coniston Fells, from the most beautifully crafted historic house in the Lake District.

    This year, there are festive events and activities happening every day at Blackwell during December. Enjoy the celebratory Christmas Craft Fair, with shopping for unique handmade gifts plus a lively programme of performances such as Christmas music played on the Blackwell piano and guided tours and talks.

    Event Advent Calendar:

    1 - 17 December, All Day: Paper garland making. Free with admission.

    1 - 31 December, All Day: Children's trail with prize. Free with admission.

    2 December, All Day: Christmas craft fair with stalls throughout Blackwell. Reduced house admission of £5.

    7 December, 10.30am - 12pm & 12.30pm - 3pm: Christmas decoration embroidery. Drop in sessions, free with admission.

    8 December, 2.30pm: Victorian Christmas talk by a Curator, followed by mulled wine. Tickets £12.00 or £7.50 for Friends.

    9 and 10 December, 10.30am - 1.30pm: Festive mask making inspired by the flora and fauna at Blackwell. Drop in sessions, free with admission.

    13 December, 2pm and 3pm: Christmas Piano music in the Main Hall. Free with admission.

    14 December, 2.30pm: St Thomas' school choir performance in the Main Hall. Free with admission.

    15 December, 2.30pm: Victorian Christmas talk by a Curator, followed by mulled wine. Tickets £12.00 or £7.50 for Friends.

    16 December, 10.30am - 12pm & 12.30pm - 3pm: Christmas decoration embroidery. Drop in sessions, free with admission.

    18 - 24 December, All Day: A Christmas photo booth - take a family Christmas selfie with Edwardian props and festive costume.

    22 December, 2.30pm: Victorian Christmas talk by a Curator, followed by mulled wine. Tickets £12.00 or £7.50 for Friends.

    23 and 24 December, 2pm and 3pm: Reading of The Night Before Christmas. Free with admission.

    Benefits for Groups • Save 29% on our standard admission charge for groups of 10 or more. • Visiting all three venues in one day may be too much, that’s why we allow groups to spread their visits over a 7 day period. To be eligible for the discount, all three visits must be made by the same group. • FREE coach parking during your visit and a further two hours FREE coach parking at Abbot Hall, to see the historic town of Kendal. • Coach welcomed by a member of staff. • Pre-booked catering options with reserved seating. • Early visits starting at Blackwell before we open to the general public. • A FREE talk for groups of 15 or more at Blackwell and Abbot Hall (weekdays excluding Bank Holidays, weekends at Blackwell subject to availability).
