The Cranny is a studio apartment which forms part of a large Victorian house. It has been fully-renovated as a contemporary and comfortable living space for two guests. It features a double bed, seating area and kitchenette with microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. It has a separate bathroom with a bath and shower. The Cranny has Sky TV, including full sport and movie package, and free WiFi. There is an outside seating area and guests also have use of the gardens. Private, on-site parking is available.
Tea and coffee, fresh milk and welcome sweet treats are provided on arrival. Cleaning and washing up supplies are also provided.

The Cranny limits bookings to 2 or more days.

    “The Nook is Fantastic ”

    Good clean and homely cottage. The owners Wendy and Michael friendly and helpful. Good facilities. Everything in The Nook -TV, Cooker all in a modern accommodation. Highly recommended.

    Abigail and Andrew offer a warm welcome to Ivythwaite Cottages, situated in the grounds of a traditional Lakeland stone and flint guest house in beautiful Windermere. The cottages offer contemporary accommodation.

    The Nook is a one bedroom semi-detached house featuring a living room, dining kitchen, double bedroom, bathroom and private outside terrace area. The Cranny is a studio apartment featuring a seating area, kitchenette, separate bathroom and outside seating area. Both have Sky TV, including full sport and movie package, and free WiFi.

    We are ideally located on a quiet street just off the road between Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. Both villages are within ten minutes’ walk of the cottages, with plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops. As well as on street parking, we offer a private car park at the rear of the cottages.

    The cottages are let on a self-catering basis. We pride ourselves on our hospitality, so, for an additional cost paid locally, we offer a large breakfast menu, served in our elegant dining room warmed in the winter months by a log burner. The favourite choice is our Cumbrian breakfast with locally sourced sausages, bacon and eggs; but we also serve vegetarian and lighter options.

    Whether the reason for your visit is to take part in the activities that the beautiful Lake District offers, or whether it is to relax and enjoy the scenery, we hope to welcome you to our cottages and help you make the most of your visit.

    From the south or north leave the M6 at jct 36 and follow the A591 to Windermere.
    Turn off the A591 at Windermere through the village and follow the main road until you reach the Baddeley clock monument and gardens on your left.
    Turn in here and continue to the junction with Princes road on your right. The Nook is accessed via the lane first on the left, the lane is shared with Ivythwaite Lodge.
