Glass Cutting two-day workshop

Glass Cutting two-day workshop

Create your own beautiful glasses with your unique cut pattern! Try this intensive two-day workshop that will introduce you to the traditional craft of glass cutting on a diamond lathe.

This intensive two-day workshop will introduce you to the traditional craft of glass cutting on a diamond lathe. The workshop is suitable for anyone with no experience, or for those wishing to develop their skills.

The course size is a maximum of 6 people, ensuring that you enjoy extremely high levels of personal support and supervision throughout the day. You will be introduced to a range of diamond wheels and shown what they do, how they are used, health & safety issues and then supported through a series of practical exercises to develop confidence. Creativity is key, our course-leader Heather will demonstrate how designs are developed & transferred onto glasses ready for the cutting process. You will learn how to cut various lines, patterns and oval lenses.

You will develop your own designs & transfer them onto your own glasses. Two hand-blown Cumbria Crystal hi-ball tumblers are included in the cost to take home, as is acid polishing to create the beautiful shine & promote the crystals refractive qualities. Additional glasses are available at discounted prices on the day should the creative bug take hold! More experienced participants may tailor the day to match their skill levels and personal objectives.

After the course your glass will be polished. Your finished creations will be ready for collection about four days after the workshop. If you are unable to collect, courier delivery can be arranged.
