Creative Sandblasting

Creative Sandblasting

Details

This intensive one-day course with Reuben Allonby. Reuben recently completed a three year apprenticeship with our recently retired Master Glass Engraver and brings a creative and precise aesthetic to this art form and will assist you in bringing your drawings, photographs or patterns to life. This course is suitable for beginners and no prior experience is necessary.

The sandblasting process relies on the creative application of hand-cut stencils to the surface of the glass to form a resist which protects the glass from the abrasive action of the sand-blasting process. This enables your designs and drawings to be etched into the glass surface. This course requires the use of scalpels. Materials, tools and health & safety equipment are provided.

Should you prefer you may bring old glass bottles or jam-jars (without labels) for practice before moving to full-lead crystal. Additional glass vessels, tumblers and bowls suitable for engraving will be available to purchase on the day should you have a grand project in mind
