Details

A free ten-mile guided cycle ride starting in the village of Nether Wasdale and exploring the beautiful Wasdale valley in the western Lake District led by British Cycling-trained leaders.

Wasdale is a dramatic Lake District dale famous for having the deepest lake overlooked by the highest peak in England and this free guided cycle ride explores the entire length of the valley.

The ride is led by British Cycling-trained leaders and is ideal for families and leisure cyclists (minimum age of 8 – all children must be accompanied by an adult). It’s entirely on minor roads with little traffic and just a few hills. You’ll get views of the famous Wastwater screes as they plunge into the lake. More details can be found on the website.

Directions

Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow signs initially for Barrow in Furness (A590) far as Greenodd. Here, follow signs to Broughton in Furness, A5092 then A595. At Duddon Bridge turn right onto a minor road, signed Ulpha. After Ulpha turn left onto a steep minor road signed Eskdale. Keep following signs to Eskdale then Santon Bridge and eventually Nether Wasdale.
