Scientific Ghost Vigil

Every year we offer public places on one or two scientific ghost vigils, to work alongside the vigil research team based at Muncaster Castle. The 2019 vigil will be on Saturday 9th November.

The scientific research team have been researching the “hauntings” of Muncaster since 1992. They lead the vigil, explaining the rationale of a scientific investigation and training participants in the use of equipment and research methods before supervising the overnight investigation in various locations of the Castle.
This is your chance to take part in serious on-going research at one of the country’s allegedly most haunted locations and meet like-minded professional researchers.
The programme is planned to be as follows:

Times Activity
6.00pm Arrive at Castle front door for registration, refreshments and talk on the modus operandi of the vigil
7.30pm 2 course supper
9.30pm Castle tour and health and safety briefing
10.00pm Technical equipment training, setup and test in various locations
10:30pm The vigil begins…
4:00am – 8:00am Sleep, if you are able!
8.30am Breakfast followed by debriefing
10.00am Depart Muncaster Castle
*Please note timings and location may vary slightly from the programme listed above.

The cost will be £99.00 per person and includes refreshments on arrival, evening meal, tea/coffee throughout the vigil and a full English breakfast. Acceptance onto the vigil is subject to the vigil team's agreement.

Contact us at Muncaster for full Ts & Cs, for further information or to book.

As an alternative to this experience, we also offer an overnight ghost sit in the most-haunted Tapestry Room. Available most of the year on request and open to small groups of up to 8, though fewer is better, it’s a fantastic team-building event or a real alternative to your average stag or hen do! Find out more on Muncaster's website or contact us.
