“Very cozy!”

We were extremely lucky to have found this place. The Lakes District accommodations are hard to come by on short notice in the summer season, and we thought we were going to have to "settle". Instead, we found a place to come back to.
The house is newly remodeled and very cozy. The greeting was very warm and helpful. The food was excellent. The help with local travel ideas and restaurants out ahead of us came in very handy. We will be coming back and staying here from now on.

Details

Distinguished late 18th Century Grade II Listed house in the historic village of Clifton in Cumbria’s Eden Valley on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park with easy access to the Northern Lakes and fells and the North Pennines. Lowther Castle, Ullswater and Pooley Bridge are all approximately 10 minutes drive away and there are several excellent pubs with good restaurants in the surrounding villages. We are only 5 minutes away from Junction 40 on the M6 and from Penrith mainline railway station.

The house is sympathetically decorated in period colours with a contemporary accent. It is comfortably and stylishly furnished and has an informal and relaxed atmosphere. It is set in its own large, walled garden with a a terrace to the rear of the house. At the bottom of the garden is a specially built structure housing an infra-red sauna and treadmill, together with secure bicycle storage.

Stunning views from back of the house over the Lowther valley and Eastern and Northern fells.
