Fell Foot Park

The National Trust operate several historic properties around Cumbria including the stunning Sizergh Castle estate near Kendal which contains some of the finest Elizabethan carved overmantels in the country, 14th century solar tower with original fireplaces, floors and windows. The 15th century great hall and other later additions contain English and French furniture, silver, china and Jacobite relics. Set in wonderful grounds with walks around the estate, this has been lived in by the Strickland family for over 760 years.

Another must-see is Wray Castle on the edge of lake Windermere. If you've children to entertain you'll be pleased to know the rooms may be empty of grand possessions but full of kids having fun- it's perfect for a wet day in the Lakes! Younger visitors will love dressing up, castle building and playing in the Peter Rabbit Adventure. Outside there is an exciting adventure play area where you'll find den building, rope swings and scramble boards.
