Fell Foot Park

Fell Foot Park

Sitting on the southern tip of Windermere with views up the lake to the fells beyond, this family-friendly park is the perfect place for playing, having a picnic or getting out on the water.

The park has easy lake access and is the ideal spot for paddling, swimming or boating. The state-of-the-art Active Base facility, opened in 2018, with its underfloor heating, offers a warm spot to get showered and changed after a long day out on the water.
If you’re looking for a relaxing stroll or a top dog-walking spot, the grounds offer a variety of picturesque flower meadows in the summer, vibrant autumnal displays in the Pinetum (area of specimen trees) in October and misty lake views up Windermere to the snow-capped mountains throughout the winter.
The park also holds an attractive collection of Gothic Revival Victorian Boathouses, which have been restored to their former glory, complete with crenelated turrets, arrow loops, doorways and rustic limestone decoration. They were designed to be best viewed from the lake, so why not hire a rowboat, kayak or paddleboard for a unique vantage point – these are available from April to October.

Sitting on the lakeshore is the Boathouse Café, offering barista coffee, hot food, cakes and bakes. Its viewing platform has been recently renovated to have level access so that everyone can enjoy the views.

An all-terrain wheelchair is available to hire during your visit for free, just ask a member of staff upon arrival. The site is also home to a new Changing Places facility – a specialist changing room for those with complex care needs – installed in 2019.
