Catering for families and couples, Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Caravan Park occupies one of the finest positions in the Lake District overlooking Derwentwater with breath-taking views of the surrounding fells.
Our west location above Keswick provides the opportunity to relax and enjoy dramatic sunsets from your pitch. Ninety percent of touring pitches are fully serviced, all on hard standing. The camping field is separate to the tourers with level and sloping areas. Caravans are available to hire, all rooms are heated and all with balcony. Good walks are available from the park including a 25/30 minute woodland walk into Keswick. A landscaped park providing habitat for wildlife. David Bellamy gold award winner. Cumbria for Excellence award winner 2002 and 2015, finalist 2008, Northwest Caravan Park of the year 2005 and Visit England finalist 2016. Please note: Last arrivals 21:00.
The shop offers a wide range of locally sourced produce, gifts, camping accessories and an off licence. Seasonal opening hours apply.
Our three modern amenity blocks, provide toilets, showers, under floor heating in two of these, privacy cubicles, disabled facilities, a bathroom and in our newly refurbished amenity block, touch free temperature controlled showers. Other facilities include laundrette, battery charging, telephone, gas exchange, ice pack cooling and tourist information centre at the reception (with free Wi-Fi). We are situated in the countryside and like to encourage as much wildlife as possible. The site participates in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards, which are held each year and we have achieved a 12th consecutive gold award for continuing commitment for conservation and the environment.
Deer may frequently be seen from the caravan terraces along with badgers and red squirrels. We have several nesting boxes for birds, bats and owls. We are now members of the Butterfly Conservation Trust and the David Bellamy Bee Pledge.
The site is home to four pigs, two Kune-Kunes ‘Posh and Becks’ and two micro-pigs ‘Betty and Rita’, also ‘Amy, Polo and Joeby’ our miniature Shetland Ponies and ‘Rusty and Dusty’ our miniature Mediterranean donkeys and ‘Alfie and Daisy’ our two goats along with our Pygmy Goats, Ouessant Sheep and Indian Runner Ducks.
