Spectacular lakes on one side; breathtaking mountains on the other, Derwent Bank has been inspiring walkers since 1785. Whether you want to explore the peaks on our guided walks or tailor-make your adventures on a self-guided walk, the beautiful Derwent Bank Country House is like no other!
At Derwent Bank, we boast views of the lake and fells from our conservatory and terrace, as well as many of our 32 bedrooms and 5 double bedded chalets. Don't miss the delights of our gardens, the lawn slopes down to the lake jetty offering a splendid spot to admire this magnificent setting.

Accommodation
Newly refurbished in 2016 and with exciting new developments in 2019 of a beautiful new orangery, plus eight new guest bedrooms in the grounds to replace the old chalets, our rooms offer you the perfect setting to relax and revive tired feet. With views of the glorious lakes or the mountains of Cat Bells and Grizedale Pike, the inspiration for adventure is never far away.

Dining at Derwent Bank
Our full board holidays will delight your taste buds. Join fellow guests in the comfortable lounge or bar before we serve you a delicious home cooked meal in the dining room – our relaxed social dining is a highlight of any stay at our country houses.

Walking at Derwentwater
The beautiful Lake District landscape is at your fingertips. Our range of guided walks allow you to discover the rich beauty on offer with experienced leaders, choose from adventure walks up classic ridges and rocky scrambles, to Discovery Tours visiting local attractions.

If you prefer to explore on your own, our Discovery Point is jam-packed with maps and detailed walks to allow you to plan your self-guided walks. Plus you’re never truly on your own, our experienced and friendly leaders are available for questions in the bar each evening, with fellow walkers, for ideas and inspiration.

Like all our Country Houses, Derwent Bank is tailored for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts with a boot room and drying room.
