Ghyll Scrambling

Ghyll Scrambling

A 'Ghyll' Cumbrian for a 'mountain river'. Ghylls are a thing of beauty where one can find a sublime moment, sat gazing at the sparkling pools whilst listening to a ancient waterfall.

At Into The Outside we want to fully immerse you in the wonder of the natural world and Ghyll Scrambling is the finest example of this! As we ascend the river against the flow you'll encounter rapids, plunge pools, waterfalls and chutes that we can play around in and set you some challenges! It's sensory overload as you travel through this dynamic environment on an adventure you will truly never forget.

With plentiful mountain rivers in the Lake District Into The Outside can choose a venue that best suits your aspirations and the weather conditions.

Both Rock Climbing and Ghyll Scrambling require a good level of physical fitness as you will be out all day exerting yourself in the elements. If you fancy something in between the 2 sports, believe it or not there is a dry Ghyll were you can scramble and climb without getting wet!

Into the Outside are all about bespoke adventure so if you're struggling to choose and you've got the energy we can organise for you to do both Rock Climbing and Ghyll Scrambling in the same day or over 2 days, just let us know!
