National 3 Peaks Challenge

National 3 Peaks Challenge

The National 3 Peaks is the daddy of all Mountain challenges in the UK. To summit the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland in 24 hours is a tough challenge but a fine achievement.

The National 3 Peaks is a challenge that has been set for years and one that every enthusiastic mountaineer needs to complete! You need to be fit, focused and mentally prepared.

The National 3 Peaks include Ben Nevis in Scotland (4,409ft), Scafell Pike in England (3,209ft) and Snowdon in Wales (3,560ft).

The challenge is completed from North to South starting at Ben Nevis in the evening, the easiest mountain to descend at night. From Scotland we drive towards the Lake District to begin an early morning ascent of Scafell Pike. We finally come to an end in Wales to climb Mount Snowdon.

To witness the Sunset on Ben Nevis, sunrise on Scafell Pike and sunset on Snowdon is a once in a lifetime experience.

The National 3 Peaks is a great way to raise money for charity and have fun with mates or work colleagues or training for bigger things abroad.
The National 3 Peaks is a great challenge and a serious undertaking. It will test you mentally and physically and I recommend coming out on one or both the Lakes 3000s or Yorkshire 3 Peaks as a warm up challenge. You want to give yourself the best possible chance for success!

Dates can be arranged but preferably over the summer months as this gives you the best advantage with day time hours.
Ben Nevis Stage – 10.5 miles/17km 5/6 hours
Scafell Pike Stage – 6 miles/9.6km 4/4.5hours
Snowdon Stage – 7 miles/11km 4/5 hours

Total = 23.5 miles/37.6km 13/15.5 hours (add 9/10 hours travel time)
