Rock Climbing

The Lake District as you can imagine has its fair share of rock. Depending on your skill level, and what you would like to achieve we use an appropriate Rock Climbing venue.

If you’ve never climbed before don’t worry we are experts in showing you how to get on.

We operate various levels of Rock Climbing courses, and teach various skill levels from absolute beginners through to intermediate and advanced climbers. The day can just be about having fun on the rock and having the feeling of openness and space, or it can be tailored around how to place natural gear into the rock, and building a safe belay.

Resin to Rock:

Maybe you’ve just climbed on an indoor wall and now looking to get outside and try climbing for real? We have it covered. We will teach you the correct way to do things and show you how to progress your climbing CV. Some skills that will be covered.

- Movement on rock
- How to place gear/remove
- General rope work
- Creating a safe belay/ABC
- Retreating/abseiling from a crag
- Basic rescues
- Crag and guide book orientation

Sport climbing:

Ever fancied sport climbing? It’s like the climbing wall but on the real stuff. We show you what’s needed to climb sport properly, and expel some of the myths around the do’s and don’ts to this sport. We’ll show you how to arrange your rope when reaching the top of a sport climb so that you can lower off safely.
We do all this whilst trying to get as much climbing into the day as physically possible.

Classic Rock days:

You possibly have a climb that you’ve always wanted to do, but for whatever the reason, time, not leading well enough, lack of climbing partners you just haven’t got round to it.
Give us a call and discuss your classic climb. Here are some examples:
Little Chamonix in the Lake District, Grooved Arête in Wales, Agag’s Groove in Scotland, Doorpost and Demo route in Devon and Cornwall, a dream of white horses - Gogarth, Vector – Tremadog, Cenotaph corner – Dinas Cromlech. All absolute classics!

All our activities are run by passionate experienced and fully qualified and certified instructors. We are a small organisation based in the south Lakes area and have many years experience working with a huge range of clients and ability levels. The AMI (Association of Mountaineering Instructors) logo represents quality and assurance in the outdoor field, and you know that you’re getting the ‘best of the best’ instructors when you book with us.
