Details

Exploring underground is a unique experience being within the earth is like a voyage into another world. A world where features take millennia to form and host almost no life.

Many surface from caving blown away realising that they had never seen true dark or the unending silence of being separated from our terrestrial home by millions of tonnes of rock.

Caving is expiatory you hands can feel the water flows fingerprint in the rock, you nose experiences what it is like to have no dust or pollen and your eyes boggle at the extraordinary shapes created by the most basic and ancient processes.

Some things to reassure you: we don’t generally crawl much: mostly we stand up and walk, we never have to squeeze (though you might choose to), we have allot of batteries and spares – it will not get suddenly dark (unless you want it to be) and finally it is surprisingly pleasant temperature wise down there.

We have a range of caves we can use depending on the weather, ambitions and abilities. We discuss and refine the plan as the forecasts come in.

Typically we will do two caves in the day or two sections of a particularly large system with a break for lunch in between.
Fees include: lunch, equipment, access fees, instruction and hot drinks.

Caving is a great activity for those with some disabilities: all participants move more slowly underground those with visual or ambulatory impairments don’t much differ from non-disabled group members. Some of our caves are wheelchair accessible with an off-road chair – which we can source. For those with visual impairments caving can offer a unique opportunity to explore sections of an adventurous environment un-lead.
