Pattern Cutting Quirky Workshop at Greystoke

Details

Maggi is a fashion consultant and illustrator based in Cockermouth and she is particularly interested in helping people understand their body shape and learn to modify dressmaking patterns accordingly. She will be able to answer all your fashion and dressmaking questions!

Make a simple, versatile pattern to flatter your figure, choose from either a basic Bodice/tunic pattern (Wed 3 June) or basic Trousers (25 June ) or alterations to Bodice (26 August 2020) - styled uniquely to you.

On the basic day you will be making a simple tunic or Trousers shape to suit your figure type. This is a one day course where you get step by step instructions to create a very basic simple tunic, from which you can make other tops and dresses at a later stage in any fabric - no button holes, no zips - just simple creative fun, with lots of suggestions and advice on further adaptions at a later stage.

Maggi will encourage you to work with your own figure type to create stylish looks and perhaps act as a catalyst for change and allow you to re-frame the way you view yourself and your body. The second session will help you to begin simple pattern cutting, using a fabric of your choice in a very simple tunic shape.

TUNIC PATTERN ADAPTION Workshop - this is a follow on session to the basic TUNIC workshop... Design your own basic Capsule wardrobe, having made the basic shape at a previous workshop - bring your tunic dress blueprint back (as a card block) to learn the next step. We will be adapting necklines, facings and skirt shapes and taking the blocks to the next level through the creation of a sleeve bloc, all created to suit your own body shape and style. Students should have attended Maggi's tunic workshop, or another similar course previously. Please make sure you bring your existing block pattern with you.

Wed 3rd June: Bodice Pattern Block ~ Thur 25 June: Trouser Block ~ Wed 26 August: Alterations to Bodice pattern Block
