Nestled in the very heart of the Lakes, Grasmere is a lovely place for a romantic break in peaceful surroundings. The Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room is a great place for an evening meal and there are several other good pubs in the village and the surrounding area. You'll find all the shops you need in the attractive village centre, including plenty of local treats. You'll really be able to indulge your artistic side in Grasmere, which is a former home of poet William Wordsworth. His home Dove Cottage still stands in the village and is open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum. A number of art galleries preserve the legacy of artists who've been inspired by the landscapes around the village - of particular note is the Heaton Cooper Studio.

A holiday cottage in Grasmere gives you easy access to some of the Lake District's most famous walking routes. Stride up to Easedale Tarn in the fells above the village, stroll on the peaceful shores of nearby Rydal Water, or take on Fairfield, Silver How or Loughrigg to name but a few! The A591, which runs through Grasmere, leads east to Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness and north to Keswick, linking you to some of the most beautiful locations the Lakes has to offer. The Langdale Valley, Coniston and Hawkshead are also all within easy reach.
