    Details

The Jerwood Centre is our purpose-built archive and research centre, next door to the museum. It holds over 65,000 items: manuscripts and letters by the Wordsworths, thousands of rare books, hundreds of paintings of the Lake District, dozens of fascinating household items and even a working antique printing press. Take a behind-the-scenes tour with one of our curators to see some of these incredible artefacts and find out about the day-to-day work that goes into caring for such a varied collection.

Full disabled access is available to the Wordsworth Museum. As Dove Cottage is an historic building, we have been unable to make provision for disabled access. However most wheelchairs will find the ground floor accessible and there is a virtual tour of the cottage available at the information point in the Wordsworth Museum.
