Anna Selby, poet and naturalist

Reviews

Details

Anna Selby is a poet and naturalist and writes mostly outdoors: in, on and under water (using waterproof notebooks). During this reading, she will share new poems written and composed whilst wild swimming, free diving and hiking: from 40 feet deep in the Atlantic Ocean to 12,000 feet high in the crater of a volcano that casts the longest shadow in the world.

Anna’s poetry often explores our connection with water and the natural world. She works collaboratively with dancers and choreographers, writes poetic-studies of different species in the field directly from life, and aims for these poems to share a sense of compassion and attentiveness to the environment.

This reading will also introduce poets from around the world who write with empathy and compassion, speaking up for the environment at a time when it’s needed more than ever.

Cost: Free, including drinks reception. Booking essential.
