    Details

An unmissable evening with the new Poet Laureate in the heart of the Lake District.

Simon Armitage was born in West Yorkshire and is an award-winning poet, playwright and novelist. In 2010 he was awarded the CBE for services to poetry and this year he was appointed Poet Laureate.

He will be reading from a selection of his most loved work, and his streetwise humour, inventive use of conversational speech and eye for the ordinary detail will make this evening an unforgettable experience.

The event will take place in The Daffodil’s stylish and contemporary Waterside Room, with stunning views of the lake and surrounding fells – and only a stone’s throw away from Dove Cottage, where William Wordsworth wrote some of his greatest poetry.
