3 times the size and 3 times the experience as you safari on foot explore the animal kingdom. Come face to face with and discover Rhinos, Lions, Tigers, Bears, Hippos, Wolves, Snow leopards, Jaguar, Giant otters, Primates, Vultures, Penguins and much, much more at the UK's most interactive animal park and Europe's only Safari Zoo.

Kids are always free to family friendly Safari Zoo and you'll have a fantastic adventure immersed with some of the rarest wildest animals on the planet. Hand feed giraffes every day, walk in amongst and hand feed penguins; wander amongst and discover kangaroo, lemurs, monkeys, free flying birds - including (for the brave) vultures and condors all living wild in the park.
Daily interactive animal keeper led talks and animal feedings.

Looking for a little extra adventure.... Hand feed big cats, junior or adult keeper for a day, family animal encounters.... Christmas experiences.... prebooking essential on 01229 466086.

Kids are free - so school trips are too teachers need to prebook.

Opening details

The park is open every day from 10:00 until 17:00. Last admission is 45 minutes before closing.

2014: 3rd Nov - 13th feb £1 entry per person.
2015: The family friendly zoo where children are free. Adult: £15, Senior: £11.
Pre booked school trips visit free in 2015 * please contact us for details.
Special discounts are in place for groups.

Please note – Our entrance has moved as of 7.7.15 please follow the signs for Safari Zoo. You will no longer enter the village of Dalton but turn off prior.

Take Junction 36 from the M6 and follow the elephant signs or the signs towards Barrow in Furness. After Ulverston the brown “SAFARI ZOO ” Elephant Tourist Signs take over.


Please note our entrance has moved. The new entrance is located at the end of a bus route. If you are arriving by train from Dalton in Furness Station or wanting to use public transport from Barrow in Furness, Ulverston or even Kendal both the X6 and 6 stop at our new entrance.

From Barrow, Dalton in Furness, or Dalton Station – Lindal in Furness – “Melton Top” is the stop to ask for. You’ll see a pedestrian path from the bus stop which takes you right up to our zoo boundary.

There are roughly 4 buses an hour. Stagecoach timetables for the 6 and X6 are available.
