Details
Ruskin could not resist the wonder he felt at the ability of the earth to form itself into crystalline treasures and spectacular mountain ranges. He set himself to understand the processes of change that governed the earth and from this understanding he developed many of his principles for life.
This exhibition celebrates the return to Brantwood of Ruskin’s complete core collection of over 2,000 specimens, accompanied by his autograph catalogues and original mahogany cases. It will include examples of medieval ornament admired by him, gifts to schools and national collections and spectacular specimens he named in honour of people he admired. The collection will be on permanent display in the House and Linton Room from August 2019.
