Letters from the Front

Letters from the Front

When Arthur discovered a locked wooden chest filled with letters in this late mother's home, an unlikely tale of love was uncovered.... Based on the book 'Thirty-odd Feet Below Belgium' by Arthur Stockwin

Letters from the Front is a touching and personal performance inspired by the story of a real couple. Edith Ainscow and Geoffrey Boothby were based in Birmingham and after spending only four days together, Geoffrey was sent to the front to work for the Royal Engineer Tunnellers below the Ypres Salient.

Over 18 months, hope was sustained and a relationship blossomed through little more than written correspondence caring, spirited and courageous, their letters are lovingly brought to life through a fusion of digital media and traditional storytelling.
