“Cute apartment if you like beams and seclusion!”

We booked The Loft for our stay and visit to Cartmel races. A good base for 3 days but wouldn't want to stay longer (especially in the winter) as the 1.5 miles to the village was a bit longer than anticipated for access to pubs etc. However, the views are great and if you like walking, it has convenient access to footpaths. Very low beams in the bedroom and bathroom caused 6'2'' hubby to swear a lot! and even I (a foot shorter) found the beam over the bed a bit low for comfort. The cake left by the owners was a nice touch.

Howbarrow Loft has been created from the former hay loft in our 16th century grade 2 listed farmhouse. Spacious, contempoary yet very cosy. A solar ground mounted array located in one of our fields supplies electricity to the loft.

Howbarrow Cottage is our detached characterful, contemporary Lakeland cottage, the farms former pig sty. It's upper storage area used for holding traditional Braken gathered for livestock bedding, now the cottage's bedroom with an oak framed King size bed complete with sumptuous Organic Cotton sheets. The Farm has a wind turbine and the electricity generated supplies the cottage.

Bring your horse on holiday! We have plentiful grazing and stables, vehicle parking and an unparalleled network of panoramic bridle ways including beach access. (We have two horses of our own, so any visiting horse would have company in adjacent field)

Bring your bike on holiday! Wash down facilities and secure storage available.

If searching for somewhere special to escape from the everyday and spend precious time together then you have found it here, quintessential Lakeland on the outside but full of eclectic surprises inside.
