Carlisle International Market

Carlisle International Market

Organised by Market Place Europe, the award-winning International Market is supported by Carlisle City Council. Shoppers will be spoilt for choice with a huge mix of authentic continental treats in the city centre.
Take your pick from your favourite European cuisine: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek and Turkish street foods will all be there for you to enjoy. Or, how about a taste of the exotic; with deliciously fragrant Thai noodles, spicy Indian curries or go wild and try some of the rare and exotic meats and burgers including ostrich, kangaroo, wild boar and crocodile! And of course, not forgetting the taste of home with great British cheeses and an impressive hog roast too.
Don’t forget to leave a little room for a sweet treat, as there will be an array of delicious cakes, biscuits, sweets and crepes on offer to tempt you.
There will also be a Continental Street Bar where you can try some great continental beers and wine.
Green fingered shoppers will not be disappointed either as the market will include popular Dutch plant seller with his wonderful array of shrubs, plants, trees and bulbs.
An ancient Proclamation will be recited at the Market Cross on Saturday, 24 August at 10am. The Proclamation is a declaration of Carlisle City Council’s rights to hold an annual Fair in August, originally granted to the citizens of Carlisle in 1352 by Edward III.
A procession including The Mayor of Carlisle, Cllr Marilyn Bowman, Sword and Mace Bearers and other Civic Dignitaries will make its way from St Cuthbert’s Church to the Market Cross in the city centre.
