Cycle Route: Bowness-Stavely-Troutbeck-Bowness

Route Details

1. Take the cycle path out of the car park, signed Bowness and follow it to Glebe Road. Carfeully cross Glebe Road and on the other side join Rectory Road. Carefully cross Glebe Road and on the other side join Rectory Road, which is followed to the A592. Carefully turn left on to the A592 and follow it to the mini-roundabout in Bowness. Take the A592 Rayrigg Road off the roundabout and follow it for 1.5 km to a turning on the right for Birthwaite Road. Carefully turn onto it and follow it uphill to join the A5074. Carefully head straight over the A5074 into Broad Street. Proceed along Broad Stree to a turning on the left for Lickbarrow Road ( blue cycle sign). Join Lickbarrow road and follow it as it climbs over the fell for 2Km to a junction. Turn left and head down to the junction with the B5284

2. Turn left onto the B5284 for 500m and then turn left again and follow the lane as it winds its way east through Borwick Fold to a turn on the left just before Wain Gap. Turn left and follow the lane up and over the fell to a junction as Ashes. Turn left and follow the road over the main road and the railway way line and down into staveley.

Turn L through the village and follow the road to jst befre the A591, instead taking a right fork signed cycle route to Windermere. Join the cycle path and follow it W for 1.9km to Ings. (do not cross the dual carriagway). Turn R and follow Mislet Brow straight ahead past the turning at Mislet and then staright ahead at the next fork. This is Moorhowe Road and it is followed to a junction at Fusethwaite Yeat, fork right and dropdown steeply (take care) to the A592

4. Carefully turn R and head up the A592 for 1Km. Immediately after crossing the Trout beck turn left to Troutbeck village up a short climb. At the top of the hill turn left and follow the road south. At the fork at Town End take the left branch (straight on) and follow the road all the way down to the A591. Carefully turn left through Troutbeck Bridge for about 1km to a mini-roundabout. Carefully take the righthand approach lane and take the right exit, signed A592 Bowness. Follow the A592 all the way to the centre of Bowness where you turn right and retrace your route back to Ferry Nab car park.
