    “Comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings.”

Clean and well kept accommodation. A lovely old cottage in beautiful grounds. Lovely view from our window, where we enjoyed the autumn colours. Safe for children (5years) and owners friendly and hospitable. Very relaxed and pleasant time there, and our requests at breakfast were met, also were given a map and shown where we wanted to visit over the weekend. An en-suite room would have been better for our needs and price paid, but the modernised bathroom was only a few steps over the landing and shared with one or two other guests. (Great shower by the way)
We were made to feel welcome, and were not hurried, ignored, or overly chatted to by the owner (past B&B experiences)! We were also able to get an emergency appointment at their doctors for a bout of tonsillitis.
We would recommend Bowfell Cottage. It is located away from the busy Bowness centre, so we felt like we were in the countryside, whilst still having handy access to the places of interest e.g close to ferry for Hill Top near Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness. Also a short walk to Blackwell the Arts and Crafts house. We would stay again, but next time book the en-suite room.

    Details

Bowfell Cottage is admirably situated fronting a private drive just off A5074, Lyth Valley Road, above eastern shore of the lake about 1 mile south of Bowness Bay and set in 0.5 acre of wooded ground and gardens.
In the heart of the Lake District National Park, Bowfell Cottage was built around 1895 in Lakeland stone to a design of Swiss origin and has a most attractive gabled appearance. Anne and Jim Tomlinson became resident owners over 20 years ago and shortly afterwards began to welcome guests and tourists establishing a considerable clientele over the years. Ideal for a comfortable stay in the friendly environment of a well-appointed cottage. Good home cooking a speciality, evening meals to order with excellent parking.
