    “Nice Apartment, great views, central location.”

    Overall, a nice apartment, great views. Central location with easy access to town via (60) stone steps at side of property, or via road down the hill if you can't manage the steps.
    However, we thought it was a bit overpriced, even for the Christmas/New Year period, plus the added £25 'Admin' fee. Again, for the price, I would have expected to find Wi-Fi provided.
    The lounge area was a bit on the small side for 4 adults. Only one 3 seat sofa, so one person had to use a dining chair or sit on floor. Would suit 2 adults and 2 children better.
    Although not spotted on the web site, it did mention in booking emails that you need to bring - "towels/tea towels and any cleaning/laundry sundries" , but be aware that absolutely nothing in this area is provided. For example -
    Bathroom - one toilet roll, no bleach or toilet cleaner, no bath cleaner (Jif) or sponge/clothes.
    Kitchen - No washing machine powder/tabs, no dish washer tabs, no washing up liquid, no washing up brush/pan scourer, no sponge/J-cloth for wiping down worktops, no paper kitchen towel, no litter bin bags, no oven glove.
    I know these are issues are relatively minor, but they spoil what is a really nice property. I would suggest that they make it very clear, up front, exactly what you need to bring, or just provide them like most other properties.

    When owners take great care with planning and refurbishment we know that our holidaymakers will be really pleased with their choice....and Top Notch will surely fit the bill for any clients looking for a village centre base. Convenient at any time of the year and first built in the 1980s, the interior has been brought up to date and is carefully planned to make the most of the available space.

    The property sits in an elevated location overlooking the rooftops and down into the village with panoramic views to Loughrigg Fell and to the Fairfield Horseshoe - you can watch the world go by from the balcony whilst planning your next busy day. Top Notch is one of a small number of privately owned apartments close to the centre of Ambleside and handy for all amenities.

    A stroll down into the village will bring you to a wealth of restaurants, local shops with excellent produce, an award-winning cinema and much more, whilst Lake Windermere is only ten minutes away on foot for lake cruises, boat hire and lake shore picnics. Many walks can be done 'from the door' including the climbs up Wansfell, Loughrigg and Todd Crag, whilst easier valley rambles would take you to Rydal and beyond to Grasmere by various routes.

    Accommodation: Entrance is via a wide glass sun porch with ample room for leaving outdoor gear, a boot rack and table with two chairs. Step into the fitted galley kitchen which in turn leads through to the light and sunny sitting/dining room with full height patio door opening on to the south-west facing balcony (wall mounted flat screen TV with HD receiver and disc recorder, DVD, gas fire).

    A small inner hallway off the lounge accesses the newly fitted bathroom - larger than average with electric shower over the bath, basin and wc. A half-flight of stairs accesses the two bedrooms - one double with king-size bed and one twin - both rooms have a range of built-in furniture offering plenty of storage for your personal items.

    Furnishings throughout are smart and comfortable and the apartment has a bright holiday feel with views to the south and west.

    Outside: Parking for one small car. Pedestrian exit via a number of steps takes you down to the shops and restaurants approx 100 yards. Walk to Lake Windermere.

    Note: Only room for a cot if the twin room is not being used.
