This popular Kendal-based choir brings a Renaissance to modern programme featuring a number of Festival themes plus more of its own, from music by Urmas Sisask and Arvo Pärt (for more Pärt, see Thu 9th and Fri 10th) to mark Estonia‘s birth as a state in 1918, in the same year as the death of Sir Hubert Parry, to Australian Peter Sculthorpe‘s lullaby for children victimised by war and the Christmas carol Morning song for the Christ Child – Christmas comes early too for Francis Poulenc. We present one of Toby Young‘s choral works before his commission later this week, and before reaching Estonia we stretch across to Norway for Knut Nystedt and Ola Gjeilo.
