Supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust

Our 2018 focus on the bassoon reaches its peak as Catriona presents this programme of original duo and solo works, including Mozart‘s only bassoon chamber work, for which she is joined by the cellist of the New String Trio. The centenary of Debussy‘s death is marked by his own tribute to a composer of an earlier age – see our concerts on Mon 30th & Thu 9th. Many great composers of the past (and present) played the viola, followed in popularity by the violin. It is a well-known fact that Elgar played the violin... but in his youth he also played bassoon, so it is hardly a surprise that his lyrical Romance is both grateful to play and on the ear.
