Langdale Pikes

Langdale Pikes

Starting from Langdale, we take a path steeply up the hillside following in the Stickle Ghyll, up to Stickle Tarn with the impressive cliff face of Pavey Ark rising up behind it. We take a path that skirts around the right hand side of this onto the summit of Pavey Ark, and continue over the distinctive summits of Harrison Stickle, Loft Crag, and Pike of Stickle. There is some very easy scrambling involved to reach a couple of these summits.

Our route continues around the western end of the valley onto Rossett Pike before taking a path back down the hillside into Great Langdale. On a clear day the views on this walk are breathtaking.

The distance is about 9.5 miles/15km with approx 1,230 metres of ascent, some of which is steep. The terrain is rough and rocky in places and can be wet and boggy in other places.

Proper hiking boots and outdoor clothing are essential. Young people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Sorry no dogs.

Advance booking and payment via the web link required please.
