    “excellent - as always.”

This B&B was a cracking find for us a few years ago and we now stay here regularly. The building has a nice open feel to it and the rooms – including communal areas are also large and comfortable. Its very casual and relaxed and the staff are great – we are usually greeted by Matt who is a real character and so welcoming. Ambleside is right at the end of the drive full of all the eateries, pubs and all the 'outdoor' shops you could want. However the house is nestled away peacefully with views of the hills and you really don’t know your near a busy spot. Always take our dog, and there is a park 2 mins walk down the road for first thing in the morning and last thing at night!
There are great walks up into the hills right from the door in all directions, well worth looking into and asking about – unless you want to notch up some big ones no need to drive anywhere for walking. Particularly recommend Loughrigg Fell and Wansfell Pike.

    Details

A charming Victorian house, carefully converted and quietly tucked away in own wooded grounds in central Ambleside. Formerly used as the vicarage for the parish of St Mary's, it overlooks Rothay Park and is tucked away from traffic noise. There is ample free car parking within the grounds. Ideal base for exploring the surrounding fells or boating on lovely lakes. Fishing, riding, golfing and sailing are just a few of the facilities available nearby. There is a spacious and comfortable lounge available for guests' use and a small snooker table. We have our own heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, sun lounge and roof top terrace.
