On this two-day course, students will learn the basic skills of stained glass – creating a suitable design or adapting an existing template with guidance from the tutor. The panel will be made up of coloured glass, some painted and kiln-fired glass, and soldered lead. On the first day students will learn about the materials and techniques of traditional stained glass, and create a simple design. They will learn to select and cut glass, and have the option to add painted detail to some pieces. The painted elements will be kiln-fired by the tutor overnight. On the second day students will assemble their glass pieces into a leaded panel, learning to shape and cut lead to size. The students will learn to solder the lead together and will be able to take their finished work away at the end of the day.
