In 2004, Richard Askwith published Feet in the Clouds: a personal memoir of fell running and obsession that was also the first book to introduce the sport to a general audience, beyond the mountainous north-west. Some say fell running hasn't been the same since. Twenty years on, the author reflects on two decades of change – and explains why he still can't resist the call of the fells.
