Getting around the Lake District without a car is probably a lot easier than you think, but sometimes you do need a car to reach some of Cumbria's far flung corners. So here is some information to help you on your way. If you do want to explore a little more by car why don't you hire one of the GoLakes Travel low carbon cars or try out an electric Twizy for the day?
Kirstie Pelling is our Go Lakes Travel #poetinmotion, out and about in The Central Lakes seeking and sharing poetic inspiration on boats, buses, trains, bikes and electric vehicles. Here's what she's been up to lately."
Kirstie said..."I've never tried an electric car and definitely never tried a Twizy. They really are something different. I rented one and put it through its paces up the Langdale Valley and onto the Wrynose Pass. It's was certainly a great fun way to get around but with a serious point. This electric car is a cleaner, greener, more sustainable way to see the Lakes and is helping reduce local carbon emissions. But it's more than that. It's an Electric Superhero. Watch the video, see what it's like and hear me read my Electric Superhero poem".
