No visit to the Lake District, Cumbria would be complete without a boat trip on one of the many beautiful and scenic lakes. Afterwards, why not take a trip to the beautiful Western Lakes, for a train ride through scenic Eskdale. This is the home of the narrow-guage steam railway affectionately known as 'Lal Ratty' - old Cumbrian dialect for 'Little Train'. Departing from Ravenglass, this 40 minute journey takes you seven miles through ancient woodlands and fells of the Eskdale valley to Dalegarth for Boot station, some 210ft above sea level and within sight of England's highest moountains, the Scafell Range.
