Details

Beautifully located working Herdwick sheep farm, with a hearty traditional breakfast to get you started before leaving the car and walking from the front door up one of the many fells surrounding us. Whether its Scafell Pike, Glaramara, Great Gable or a lowland walk you can plan your walk from one the maps in the visitors lounge, or just sit back and relax in front of the log fire.

Also the famous Wainwright's Coast to Coast passes by the farm, so a perfect location for the 3rd leg of the journey. 7.5 miles from the lovely market town of Keswick and a 10 minute drive from Honister Slate Mine, well worth a visit no matter what the weather.

“Very comfortable and clean, friendly host”

Just had a slightly odd thing in that our host offered us a lift to the pub, which we gratefully accepted. Then later in the room we saw a notice that said that taxi's could be booked for just under £18 but that our host could do it for half that price. There was certainly no mention of a charge when she offered us the lift and we were really unsure what to do. We didn't want to be rude. We didn't want to pay £9 when we could drive ourselves and walk back but she had made it seem like a kind offer with no charge. Eventually we just said we'd drive ourselves in case we wanted to drive back but it was just a bit awkward and we didn't want to offend her. May be good to make it really clear to customers what the deal is there to avoid awkward moments! Otherwise a fab stay and would recommend.
