Details

These 2 traditional Lakeland cottages are beautifully situated in Great Langdale valley in the heart of the Lake District where there are numerous walks to suit all abilities and ambitions. The views of Lingmoor Fell and the Langdale Pikes further up the valley are stunning.
The cottages are about 10-minutes walk from the village of Chapel Stile. Elterwater is a little further but still within easy walking distance. There are a number of pubs in the area all of which serve excellent bar meals. Tracks lead directly from the cottage onto the fells behind.
The accommodation and facilities are the same in both cottages. Only the furnishings/decor differ. They each have a cosy sitting room with original cast iron open fire, a fitted kitchen diner with microwave, a utility area with washer-drier machine and 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin. There is a shower over the bath. Other features include slate-flagged floors and original wooden doors. Children and pets welcome. Change over day Saturday.

    “Breathtaking location ”

We stayed in number 2. Firstly, it was excellent value for money. The location is sublime, love the cosyness of the lounge with the coal fire and the bedrooms are lovely. The wifi is great and with no mobile service, the landline is handy! I would certainly stay again and would highly recommend it!
The only negatives (this wouldn't put me off but just be aware of it) the storage heaters are not great, in winter, take a gown! It's an old cottage so be prepared for that. If you're in a modern house now, you won't be used to the draft from the Windows and the cleanliness of an older cottage.
The shower is terrible. You can only have it on Eco setting, if you try to put it on high, the power doesn't change but it goes from boiling hot to freezing cold to boiling hot. BUT you can still wash yourself and there is a great heater to keep you warm whilst you dance around trying to rinse yourself :))
Like I said, be aware of the negatives but I wouldn't let them put me off! I loved our stay and would love to return.
