1 Park Road is a fascinating place. Apart from providing quality bed & breakfast accommodation, it is a beautiful 19th century Gentleman's Residence. with some of the original character of the house remaining alongside some wonderful contemporary touches. The feeling of peace is what many guests comment about and Philip and Mary's humour and easy going nature.

Music, fine food, bottled local and continental beers and quality wines and those personal extra touches are important to Philip and Mary.There is a relaxing guest lounge where you can sit and chat, read a newspaper, have a glass of wine or play the piano. There are crayons and drawing books for the children, a treasure hunt. and puzzles and games for all ages. If you require collecting from the railway station or car-hire arranging, Philip and Mary will do this.

We do allow a dog in certain rooms

At breakfast, fresh fruit, yogurts, compotes, the English breakfast and there are various hearty alternatives such as Eggs Benedict, Omelettes, Kedgeree or kippers.We cater for gluten free, vegetarian and lactose diets

The 6 bedrooms have all been individually refurbished with modern facilities such as, Moroccan drapes, large comfortable beds, sofas, digital flat-screen TVs, DVD and CD players, Ipod docking station variety of teas, cafetieres, proper coffee and fresh milk. There is White Company bathroom products and lotion s from Pure Lakes. On Friday and Saturday and sometimes during the week, evening dinner is freshly cooked which is perfect after a days walking and sightseeing, wholesome food, and we also offer cold meat or cheese platters.
