Back by popular demand and for its third year running is the Great Northern Cheese Festival.

Sunday in Mountain Hall:
10:30 Cheese making demo with Ian Coggin from Dewlays
11:30 Tutored Cheese tasting with Alex Evans from Taste!
12:15 Announcement of ‘Chutneys, Pickles and Relishes’ competition winner
12:45 The story of Lancashire cheeses by Dewlay’s
13:30 Beer matched with perfect cheese with Hawkshead Brewery
14:30 Ready steady cook - Peter Sidwell takes on the challenge. Nick Shill from Shills will match wines to the final dishes.
15:30 Cheese making demo with Ian Coggin from Dewlays

All day throughout the Centre:

Entertainment throughout the day

Activities for children:
Free children’s cheese trail throughout the day
Children’s Cookery sessions at 12:00, 13:30 and 15:00 with Cook in Cumbria.#

Do you make delicious chutney, relish or cooked pickle? Then read on, we are searching for the best amateur producers in Cumbria.

We also have some top tips from one of our judges, Adam Marks of Mr.Vikkis and Jane Maggs from Wild and Fruitful. Have a read on our website before you start making!

Please make up 2 jars of your best batch and drop off at the Rheged Centre between 1-30 September, jars must also be attached with your entry form (download from the website).

The judges: Jane Maggs, Adam Marks and Patrick More are all Great Taste Gold winners and they will decide who gold, silver and bronze will be awarded to. The lucky Gold winner will then receive a Taste hamper and be invited to spend a day with Jane Maggs to make a commercial batch, then see it go on sale in our Farm Shops and Taste!
