10 Day Summer Craft Fair at Dacre Hall
Outstanding quality craft fair in its 37th year. Very popular with locals and tourists. Over 35 different craft workers from all over Cumbria, South Borders and Northumberland. We choose the best and the best are keen to come! Fund raising event for the maintenance of our 13thC village hall, claiming to be the oldest in England and is a registered charity.
Dacre Hall is considered to be the oldest village hall in England and dates back to the 13thC in parts. It has been subject to almost a half a million pound refurbishment of the hall itself which also preserved some very old frescoes with the aid of English Heritage. It has just had its kitchen refurbished after winning a local competition where the prize of the new kitchen was put up by Border Kitchens. These events are fund raising events and extremly important to the future of the hall as their success helps to pay for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep.
