Country Fest at County Show Ground

Country Fest – For Country Lovers is organised by the Westmorland County Agricultural Society.

The fifth Country Fest will be held Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 June. Building on previous successes, another weekend of wide-ranging activities is planned for all ages.

Celebrating the region’s excellent reputation for quality food and drink visitors can try and buy a wide variety of outstanding products from exhibitors in the Food Zone. Demonstrations in the Food Theatre by various foodies throughout the weekend. Why not whet your appetite in the Beer Festival marquee and sample Cumberland sausage, hog roast or a tasty Lakeland picnic?

A must for canine lovers, all dogs are welcome to take part in the Companion Dog Show on Saturday, whilst 20 different classes await terriers in the second Terrier Show on Sunday. Terriers (no bull breeds) are also needed for the Terrier Racing competition on Sunday. This hilariously fun event is a firm favourite, with prizes and rosettes for the fastest terriers. Sheep Dog Trials will be running throughout the weekend.

New for 2013 - Vintage Revival Marquee – a diverse mix of retro clothing, accessories, all things vintage and a Vintage Tea Room with gorgeous cakes!!! The Lakeland Historic Car Club will be present with a selection of cars and parade through the main arena on both days.

Kite Flying demonstration with Teddy Bear Parachuting – don’t forget to bring your Teddy Bear, each Teddy Bear will receive a certificate.

Music & Dance – We welcome the return of Milnthorpe Steel Band plus a varied programme of music and dance. The youngsters from Rigney Bank Ballet School return with maypole dancing, whilst visitors can learn how to dance!

Over in the Lakeland Arena, media partners, Lakeland Radio have organised a packed programme of activities including a School Choir Competition.

With lots of activities for children, an expanded trade stand area, large craft marquee and lifestyle area Country Fest is the event not to miss.

Visitors of all ages are in for a real treat on Saturday, when Inch Perfect make a return to the arena, performing tricks and jumps up massive vertical steps and a whole variety of other manoeuvres you wouldn’t even think possible. Add to that the good humour of the commentator, a participating crowd and you’ve got a show to remember! Sunday in the arena there will be fun and games with Oxenholme Pony Club demonstrating Pony Club games.
