The Pencil Museum
Visit Keswick, the home of the first pencil, and pencil perfection since 1832. Walk through a replica of the Seathwaite Mine, where graphite was first discovered. Trace the history of pencil manufacture over the last 350 years and see how we make Derwent Fine Art Pencils today. Be amazed at the Worlds Longest Pencil, over 25 feet. Browse in the Derwent gift shop and sample some of the newly produced pencil products. Events and activities for children throughout the year, and open workshops for adults to experiment with the pencils under the guidance of professional artists. Finally relax in Sketchers Coffee shop for a light lunch, scone and Lakeland cream or a freshly ground cappuccino. An all weather attraction for the whole family to enjoy.
