At Stones Barn, singer Maddy Prior has developed a centre of creative expression and excellence, and a welcoming base to develop your own exploration of music and singing.

Organic farm specialising in hardy native breeds such as Belted Galloway cattle, Kerry Hill and Scottish Blackface sheep, Tamworth and Berkshire pigs and pure-bred hens. All meat is prepared in the on-farm butchery and sold through mail order, at local farmers' markets or directly from the farm gate, along with free-range eggs, Belted Galloway rugs and alpaca fibre. This organic working farm specialises in producing Birdoswald cheese, a traditional ‘Ayrshire sweet-milk' cheese derived from milk produced by the farm's Ayrshire cows. Cheese making takes places every Sunday (and on other days by prior appointment). Outside, a self-guided trail passes through areas of conservation interest on the farm. Tearoom (open daily Easter to end of Oct, 10.00-5.00) serving delicious meals using home-produced lamb and beef and locally grown organic vegetables.

Helen & Duncan Griggs produce honey from bees that forage on wild flowers in the Bewcastle area. Their range, which includes speciality honeys made from heather, borage, balsam and a mix of wild flowers, is obtainable from local shops and by mail order. However, as honey is a seasonal product, it may not always be in stock.
