    “Fantastic place to stay!”

My wife and I spent a week here as our first experience of the Lake District. Had a first rate welcome from Mary on arrival, with a most satisfying cup of tea and cake in the guest lounge ~ perfect after a long day's travel!

The room was delightful, the whole ambience of the property was totally relaxing and welcoming, and it was made even more so by all the "small touches" like fresh flowers, chocolates in the room, a fridge with fresh milk available on the landing for everyone, instead of those awful UHT cartons! And the choice of tea in the room....!! Even flannels and bath robes provided too....

Philip & Mary clearly put a huge effort into making their guests feel welcome and at home. And then the breakfast experience....!! Sooo much to choose from, and all so well prepared. I have to commend Philip's scrambled eggs ~ top notch!! Also good to have times of chat (and banter!!) with Philip & Mary after breakfast in the dining room ~ a good way to set you up for the day!

On top of that, a baby grand piano in the guest lounge was available for those who can play more than just 'chopsticks' or 'Fur Elise'! Enjoyed a great evening of talking over drinks with our hosts one night, including a duet on the piano with Philip ~ although he does need to practice a little to maintain his virtuoso performing standards....!!

All in all ~ a great stay in a wonderful guest house with welcoming hosts ~ would thoroughly recommend the stay to anyone.
